The Canaries are made up of ten islands in total, these are in order of visiting tourists:- Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, El Hierro, La Graciosa, (the next two islands are nature reserves so have not tourism) Alegranza and Montana Clara.
Each Island has its own unique character. The vast majority of tourism and property sales takes place on the first four islands in the list above.
This web site has sections for each island.
Tenerife property is the biggest of all islands. Most property sales take place in the south west of the island in areas like Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas.
After Tenerife comes the Gran Canaria property market. The biggest property areas are Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas.
Third in popularity is Lanzarote property. Lanzarote has strict building regulations and therefore a very different style and feel. There are three main tourism and property areas, these are Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise.
Fuerteventura is an up and coming island wth amazing unspoilt beaches. Fuerteventura property is fastest moving in Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste.

More cruise ships to Canaries
Due to an increase in demand two more cruise ship routes will be visiting the Canary Islands in 2012. Each cruise liner holds and average of some 3,000 passengers. The routes include all of the main Canary Islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife. There will beat least over night stop overs in each island. Passengers will bring money in to local businesses and the property market.

In April 2011 a whopping 42,000,000 euros will become available to help improve accommodation and improve tourist areas across the Canary Islands. This money should create around 4,000 new jobs. The investment should capitalize on a forecasted 2% increase in tourist arrivals due to holidaymakers re-routing from Egypt and Tunisa.
