Buying a property for sale in Tias
Tias enjoys a very central and elevated location in Lanzarote. Located along the main road of Lanzarote called the LZ1. From the airport to the town centre is only a seven minute drive. Many tourists like to stay in Tias but it is not considered a tourist resort. There is a more normal residential feel to this area but there are still plenty of amenities
Tias is located just a few minutes drive inland from the main tourist area of Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen. Many of the villas have their own private pools but if you want to visit the rest of the island and the beaches you will need a hire car. Hire cars are very well priced in the Canary Islands so this will not break the bank.
Being around two hundred meters higher than the coast temperatures are cooler which suits many people. There is a great selection of shops to suit the needs of residents so prices will be lower and access better.
The selection of property for sale in Tias is wide spread but leaning a little more upmarket than the tourist resorts. There are pretty much no small apartments on complexes around a pool. Apartments are larger in size and built to higher specifications. The majority of properties are larger apartments and villas. Some villas for sale in the area take advantage of the height drop off towards the coast and Puerto del Carmen allowing for some amazing views. One of the islands two golf courses is just outside Tias.
After Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise, Tias has the fourth largest residential population made up from overseas visitors. Many Tias residents start with the small apartment on a complex in Puerto del Carmen then move up to Tias. A lot of residents prefer the more normal pace of life and quieter roads, bars and restaurants.
Access to and from the area are particularly good. It is a short drive to Puerto del Carmen, the airport, the shopping centres of Playa Honda and Arrecife.
Many property pundits see the lack of repossessed property in the Tias area as a great price protection. Their own homes will not be devalued by other owners forced to sell off their homes at low prices or banks auctioning them off.
Overall Tias has a more refined feel. It is a more ‘normal’ place to live and enjoy Lanzarote. The shops have well priced goods and the restaurants look to attract residents offering good service at fair prices aiming for return customers.
